The new semester is upon us and Echo360 is pleased to announce the availability of Update 2 for EchoSystem version 2.5. This is a maintenance release that provides minor feature additions and stability enhancements based on feedback received from production installations since the August availability of EchoSystem 2.5.
EchoSystem 2.5 Update 2 includes all patches and fixes made to previous 2.5 versions. Several scalability and reliability improvements were also made to the EchoSystem server resulting from extensive work with customers preparing for large-scale deployments.
Changes include:
- Reduction in overall file size for rich media playback as a result of ongoing efforts to improve screen encode quality;
- Addition of EchoSystem server support for Mac OS X Snow Leopard;
- Resolution of DHCP and Static IP networking issues for the EchoSystem capture appliance;
- Resolution of server-side publishing issues with Angel Learning Management System and TLS support for email publishing;
- Modification to the EchoSystem media processor to address content synchronization issues with personal capture software on Mac platforms;
- Resolution of frame rate issues with personal capture software on Windows platforms.
EchoSystem 2.5 Update 2 also includes a series of improvements to EchoSystem podcasting:
- Widescreen aspect ratios for EchoSystem vodcasts;
- New “View Feed” feature that enables administrators to view the feed URL on the source section page prior to the start of a capture;
- Added support to enable/disable the “Download Media” link when accessing podcast files via publisher links in CMS/VLE systems and iTunes U.
